Chocolate Pie

2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 stick butter
dash salt
3 eggs, separated

Using a pan boil milk until hot. Mix sugar, salt, cornstarch and
cocoa (sift first) in top of double boiler add hot milk. Slowly
cook over hot water stirring constantly until thick. Add a little
of the mixture to egg yokes (egg yokes only) beat yokes and return
to mixture and cook 2 more minutes. Remove from the stove and cool
for 2 minutes and then add butter. After butter is melted in, add
mixture to cooked pie shell. Beat the 3 whites of the eggs till
stiff, then add 4 tesp of sugar and beat more. When real stiff
put on pie and bake at 375 degrees until meringue is brown, remove
and cool 30 minutes.
